Almost ready to go!

Friday September 23, 2011

A little over 40 years ago (1970 if you wish to know) a high school girl and her friend planned to take a couple of years of university and then travel to Greece for a holiday. She attended the University of Lethbridge in the fall. In November she met a young man. One thing followed another and in July 1971, they were married. Her friend went on the trip without her. She became a loving wife and mother. I have always been grateful that she chose me instead of Greece. This year we celebrated our 4oth wedding anniversary and, since I was retiring, booked a trip to Greece. We booked the trip last February. September 25th seemed to far away. We have been excitedly preparing. And now it is almost here. After 40 years of waiting, the young lady (and she still is young) will get to take her trip to Greece.

  1. COOL - way cool - and thanks for sharing. So excited for both of you. The first time I went to the Church History Archive one of the places that the archive manager mentioned wanting to document was GREECE. He told me that the church wanted to know the experiences of anyone that is a member of the church in Greece and anyone that is a member and has ever even visited Greece in the past. He said they don't have any real record of the church there prior to the late 1980's and early 1990's. They were a few people that came and went and a small branch but no significant records to document the rise of the church there. Maybe Bet's friend went to church while she was there ... Maybe you will meet someone that has records ... I am sure you will have a lot of fun! We look forward to seeing and hearing about your trip.

  2. Usually Mom is the one who writes things so beautifully, but it is evident that this was written by Dad...I echo the sentiment that I'm glad she chose you over Greece years ago! Have a great trip! Love you, love you!
